My story is like many. My truama started before the economic decline. I lost my house in a fire and the insurance did not cover everything. I was forced to get a construction loan of 50,000 with a 14% interest rate. I had to pay the bank a prepenalty fee of 12,000 to get a reduce rate. My payments went from 1,200 to 2,200. My husband was then laid off due to the economy. I had five children to support so the payments were no longer affordable so I became three months behind. That is when I contacted New Hope. The bank would not work with me. They wanted 10,000 or nothing and foreclosure was on its way. New Hope, Angela came through. She worked with a great Lawyer and I now have a modification of 1,280. As long as I make these payments which I will the team will continue to work with me. I am so impressed. Over three years ago my husband and I bought our dream home. We were set financially . That is until the housing market went hay wire. My husband lost all of his overtime and I also was cut back on hours. My husband and I decided to re-finance our home and try to get a lower interest rate and payment. We contacted someone at Wells Fargo Financial. That is when our nightmare began. We were talked into a loan that had an adjustable rate and lower payments. They had our house appraised above what the market value was. We have never been late on a mortgage payment and have always had a fixed rate mortgage. The first payment I sent for the mortgage was sent in on time. I receive a phone call at work from Wells Fargo wanting to know when I was going to make the payment. I informed them I had already made the payment and they said I needed to cancel the check (which was thirty dollars that I did not have) and do a check over the phone. I do not know where to begin, all was lost for my husband, myself and my two children. How did this happen? Our home was mortgaged with a variable rate that matured and sent our financial status from OK to foreclosure within 6 months. The economy added to the problem as well. We tried to refinance many times but were denied due to late payments. We called the Realtor and were told we were crazy to list the house in such a bad market, we would never get what we need to get for the house. That was the end for us, we just gave up. One fateful day there was a post card in our mailbox from New Hope Mortgage. I think the name caught my husband’s eye, NEW HOPE. Angella sounded just like all the others but she had a sincere way about her. I was very skeptical but it seemed to be our only chance. "When my husband and I purchased our home 2.5 years ago the economy was not in such a drastic state. We paid way to much for our home. We signed a interest only loan. Then my husband got laid off. Everything was going wrong. Soon after moving in we realized that our basement floods, and we have the coldest house in the world in the wintertime. My name is Brenda and I came to New Hope Mortgage Solutions back in August of 2008. I knew of Angella from a prior company. At that time, I was facing some serious issues especially financially. I was just recently separated from my husband who left me with piles if bills; my mortgage was close to 3-4 months behind and I was also trying to maintain other household expenses as well as assisting my daughter through college. Trust me I did not know how all of this was going to get done living off a one income salary now. So again, when New Hope Mortgage Solutions came in my life, I was still reluctant because I did not know much about what I was getting into. This is my story. Like a lot people we also have been affected by the bad economy, my husband's business income has been greatly reduced. My hours due to personal reasons have been reduced also. At that point, we could not make our monthly mortgage payments and we knew our financial future was in grave danger; we were going to lose our home.
This home is our dream home; my husband and I remodeled the entire home. It fits our family beautifully. I can’t tell you all the time and money that has gone into this home to make it perfect for us. I was getting so stressed and sick thinking about losing our home.
I tried calling the mortgage company myself to modify our mortgage payments and they told me that I did not qualify for the program because they did not see a hardship. I would like to thank New Hope Mortgage Solutions, LLC for helping my family keep our home. We almost lost it due to a high interest rate making our payments very high. This house is very important to me and my kids. I purchased our home in 1996 with my husband. Unexpectedly he passed away in 1999. I did payoff the house with the insurance money but had to take a mortgage out a few years later. I was putting my children through private school and the tuition was too much for me to handle. I was working full time but got injured and ended up losing my job and going thru a long drawn out workman’s comp case.
My children and I were receiving my late husband’s social security the boys until age 18 and my benefit stopped when our youngest turned 16. We lost approximately $4,000.00 a month within 2 ½ years. I tried to refinance but was turned down because I had no “earned income” to show, so I had to put my fiancé on the mortgage. He did not have a credit score at the time and the bank said we were high risk. The interest rate they gave us was 11.75% and they told us we could refinance in a year with no problems. Well a year later, we started to refinance and we were denied due to the housing market being so low. The appraisal was shy of $5,000.00 and we did not have that much cash to make up the difference. So the bank said we could try for a FHA loan and were told we were approved. Then they called and said it was a mistake.
I contacted New Hope Mortgage Solutions, LLC and talked to a woman named Angella. Her name should be Angel because she is an angel on earth. If it weren’t for Angella and New Hope Mortgage Solutions, LLC we would have lost our house. They were a God send and we will be forever grateful for their commitment to helping our family in our time of need.
